Root

Noun:  A part of the body of a plant that develops from the radicle  (primary root, part of an embryo) and grows downward into the soil, undergirding the plant and absorbing nutrients and moisture.  Also, a similar organ developed from some other part of a plant, as in ivy. Any underground part of a plant, such as a rhizome.

Verb:  To implant or establish.
